LEAD STORY / MON-001

Tendril Learns to Help

After heavy rain, Timber finds a nervous creature coiled beside a blocked drain. Tendril hides behind the workshop by day and secretly moves things to help at night. Many arms can hold many tools, but Tendril does not know which things should be left alone. A treasured object comes apart, and Tendril decides to leave before causing more trouble. Timber does not pretend nothing went wrong. They recover the pieces together and make picture cards for asking before helping. When rain returns, Tendril checks the plan and works alongside the residents to clear the waterway. The town comes to know a neighbour who listens, rather than a creature to fear.

Character connections

First friend: CRF-001 Timber. Everyday companion: MON-004 Jell. A fellow learner: MON-007 Wink.

Character arc

From trying to earn affection by doing everything for others, through an unwanted favour that causes harm, to apologising and respecting boundaries.

First-episode idea

All Tidied Up: Tendril proudly sorts the tools by length. Timber realises the screws have been removed and sorted too. After putting things back, they make a box of materials Tendril can organise freely.
