Lifeline's rescue rope carries ten little knots, each marking a memorable journey home with a team. He believes a leader should climb first, leave last and never let a newcomer take a critical role. Then a sudden storm strands him during a search. He must listen to teammates below and trust a new recruit with his return. Afterwards, he spends time in town teaching residents to prepare equipment, recognise routes and report their location. The next rescue succeeds because more people know what to do. Lifeline hands responsibility to others again. The eleventh knot is for the teammates who brought him home.
